The Enhanced Contractual Maternity Pay (EMP) is paid for a total of 39 weeks and is calculated at 100% of average weekly earnings for the first 13 weeks after salary sacrifice, 50% of your average weekly earnings for the next 13 weeks after salary sacrifice and then Statutory Maternity Pay (£172.48 per week or 90% of your weekly average earnings (whichever is the lesser) for the remaining 13 weeks.
To qualify for EMP an Employee must meet all the following conditions -
• Have been continuously employed by IPC for at least 1 year, continuing into the 15 weeks before the EWC. The 15th week is known as the Qualifying Week (QW).
• Have average weekly earnings of not less than the lower earnings limit for the payment of NI contributions, which applies in the QW. As a general rule, earnings are added together over the last 8 weeks up to and including the last pay day before the end of the QW.
• Having ceased working for the employer wholly or partly because of pregnancy or childbirth.
If the employee receives Enhanced Maternity Pay and does not return to work after Maternity Leave, or voluntarily terminates their employment within 6 months of returning to work, the Company reserves the right to request a reimbursement of any EMP received over and above the Statutory amount.
