What maternity pay am I entitled to?

Maternity leave and pay can be confusing, especially with different options depending on your employment status.

How do I know what I am entitled to?

If you are employed your company may offer an Enhanced Parental Leave Policy sometimes known as an Occupational Maternity Pay.

So first things first it is a good idea to see what your company policy is.

Finding your company policy

Your company’s parental leave policy can usually be found in the staff handbook, or on the internal intranet… if you cannot find it anywhere it may mean they haven't written one yet.

What if I can't find it? If you are struggling to find it and feel comfortable enough to ask your employer we advise you to ask your manager or HR where you can find it.

We know sometimes that can be daunting so alternatively if you have a work friend who has taken maternity leave ask them.

You could also check The Nuggbase, which is our database of over 800 crowdsourced parental leave policies.

Important Note: While The Nuggbase serves as a valuable reference tool, always verify current policy details with your employer, as terms and conditions may be updated without prior notice.

If your company doesn't have a policy this could mean they dont have an Enhanced Policy/Ocupational Policy and your employer may only provide the statutory minimum and no extra pay beyond what the law requires.
